Active Assurances: reviews, pricing, services and alternatives (2026)
Article published by MaaSil Inc, a company in the same sector. Public information checked on 15 October 2026; sources at the end of the article.
Active Assurances is an online insurance broker that sells car and home insurance policies to private individuals in France. Founded in 2010, the company has belonged to the Meilleurtaux group since 2021. It also interests some business leaders for another reason: in 2021, it stated that it had management centres in France and Madagascar. This article brings together the public information on the company: its offer, advertised prices, organisation, customer reviews and the questions to ask before signing up. Finally, it explains who the alternatives presented are aimed at, including MaaSil, which is not an insurer.

Who is Active Assurances?
According to its legal notice, ACTIVE ASSURANCES is an SAS registered in Paris under the French company registration number (SIREN) 527 496 699. Its entry appears in the official business directory. It declares insurance broker status, with ORIAS number 10 058 420 (the French register of insurance intermediaries).
Created in 2010 by three co-founders, the company brought the Activa Capital and Bpifrance funds into its share capital in May 2018. On 23 March 2021, the Meilleurtaux group, whose majority shareholder has been the Silver Lake fund since October 2020, announced its acquisition in a press release. Sources date the transaction either to 23 March or to a completion at the end of April 2021. The group then announced more than 160,000 customers.
Active Assurances or Meilleurtaux Assurances?
On 24 June 2024, Meilleurtaux announced that the "Meilleurtaux Assurances" brand replaces Active Assurances in car insurance, according to this press release. The transition was planned until September 2024, with two new offers, "Budget" and "Sérénité".
As of 15 October 2026, however, the activeassurances.fr website is still online and offers quotes, and the company retains the name ACTIVE ASSURANCES. Sources therefore present Active Assurances sometimes as a replaced brand, sometimes as a brand still in operation.
What services does Active Assurances offer?
Active Assurances sells two families of policies to private individuals, with a free online quote and no obligation:
Car insurance: plans for drivers with a penalty (malus), drivers who have had claims or been cancelled, microcars, young drivers and good drivers.
Home insurance: tenants, owners and non-occupying owners (PNO).
The website also targets customers cancelled for non-payment of their premiums. It offers a customer area and online payment. Its terms and conditions state that the offers are "marketed by our partner insurance companies", without naming those insurers. The broker is paid through a fixed commission taken from the premium.
The model long went beyond direct sales. In 2018, the press described management fully delegated by insurance companies, as well as white-label management for brokers, insurers and mutual insurers since 2016. The current website only presents the offer for private individuals.
How much does Active Assurances cost?
The home page displays monthly headline prices, shown as "from":
Policy | Advertised price |
|---|---|
Car | From €14.60 per month |
Car, driver with a penalty (malus) | From €15 per month |
Microcar | From €36.46 per month |
Young driver | From €20.40 per month |
Home | From €11.70 per month |
There is no complete public price list. According to the website's FAQ, the car premium depends on the vehicle's Argus value (the reference value of used cars in France) and the driver's profile. Active Assurances also claims "up to 30% savings on average". The quote is valid for one month.
For car insurance, cover starts only once the first two monthly instalments have been paid, "brokerage fees included", along with "administration fees and taxes". The amount of these fees is not specified, nor is the commitment period. According to the terms and conditions, there is no right of withdrawal for car insurance; for home insurance, the period is 14 calendar days.
Where do Active Assurances' teams work?
The head office has been in Paris since September 2024, after a period in Boulogne-Billancourt, according to Societe.com. According to the Contact page, advisers handle policies from Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 8pm. The online quote is available 24 hours a day.
At the time of the 2021 acquisition, Meilleurtaux described "management centres in France and Madagascar". In 2018, the press mentioned an offshore centre of more than a hundred staff, without specifying the country. These teams were attached to the group's insurance business: no outsourcing offer provided to other companies was found. The Malagasy city and headcount are not published, and the current About us page does not mention Madagascar.
The headcount remains hard to establish. The website states "around 200 advisers", Societe.com puts the legal entity between 20 and 49 employees, and LinkedIn shows 2 to 10 employees. These figures do not measure the same thing. No certification is cited.
What do reviews say about Active Assurances?
As of 15 October 2026, the Active Assurances Trustpilot page shows 2.8/5 from 1,246 reviews, 376 of them in the last 12 months. Ratings are sharply divided: 66% of reviews are 1 star and 27% are 5 stars. The company replies to almost all negative reviews.
Positive reviews describe friendly, attentive advisers, clear explanations and a quick sign-up. Negative reviews mention premium increases perceived as unannounced, disputed direct debits and fees, difficulty cancelling and a customer service that is hard to reach. No employee reviews were found.
What are Active Assurances' strengths?
A verifiable identity: SIREN, head office, ORIAS number and parent group are published.
Headline prices displayed by type of policy and a free online quote.
Offers for drivers with a penalty (malus), who have had claims or been cancelled.
Advisers reachable six days a week and cancellation of the previous policy handled for you, according to the website.
Points to check before choosing Active Assurances
Which entity signs the contract, and which insurance company bears the risk?
What is the amount of the administration, brokerage and cancellation fees? Are they included in the "from" price?
What is the commitment period, and how do you cancel?
How does the premium change after the first renewal or after a claim?
Is an insurance ombudsman designated? The Contact page does not mention one.
For a business leader: are the Madagascar teams still active, and is this service offered to other companies?
Which businesses is Active Assurances suited to?
Active Assurances is aimed at private individuals, not businesses: its website presents no offer intended for companies. It may interest a private individual looking for car or home insurance online, particularly with a penalty (malus) or cancelled profile. For a business, it is not a provider but an example of a broker that split its management between France and Madagascar, at least in 2021.
What alternatives are there to Active Assurances?
A private individual looking for insurance should compare other insurers and brokers: MaaSil is not an alternative for that need. The players below concern businesses considering, as Active Assurances did, entrusting management tasks to teams based in Madagascar.
Smartelia
Smartelia says it outsources digital marketing, sales, administration and customer support with remote teams. It announces offices in Paris, Brussels and Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar.
ADM Value
ADM Value announces customer relations, sales, debt collection and document management activities. The group says it operates in eight countries, including Madagascar, with "more than 8,000 employees".
MaaSil Inc
MaaSil, based in Paris, provides Employer of Record (EoR) services (staff provision) for consultants based in Madagascar. According to MaaSil, these consultants are 100% integrated into the client's teams, with the same tools. MaaSil handles recruitment, payroll and HR follow-up; the client directs the assignments.
MaaSil publishes its pricing: from €55 to €100 excl. VAT per day for general profiles, or around €1,150 excl. VAT per month, and from €120 to €250 excl. VAT per day for senior developers. On its Why us page, MaaSil announces more than 100 consultants and more than 40 clients.
MaaSil suits French-speaking SMEs, startups and mid-sized companies that want to bring in dedicated team members, in accounting or customer service for example. It is less suited to high-volume call centres, multilingual 24/7 hours and very short projects. Our guide on choosing a BPO provider details evaluation criteria.
Criterion | Active Assurances | MaaSil (according to MaaSil) |
|---|---|---|
Activity | Online insurance broker | Dedicated consultants integrated into the client |
Customers | Private individuals | French-speaking SMEs, startups and mid-sized companies |
Link with Madagascar | In-house management centres (2021) | Consultants based in Madagascar |
